The founder of Black Hair Mastery™.

After more than 20 years of frustration navigating the Black hair industry, I realised something had to change — not just for me, but for all of us.

Despite spending years researching, testing, and investing in products and professional services, I was still met with confusion, inconsistent advice, and styles that didn’t support my long-term hair goals. Like so many Black women, I was doing everything right — and still not seeing results.

The truth? The industry was never designed with us in mind.
And the education? Incomplete. Outdated. Often rooted in Eurocentric standards.

I reached a point where I knew this wasn’t about a “bad product” or “bad stylist” — it was about a system that needed reform.

The Wake Up Call

I started seeing the same story everywhere — Black women doing everything “right” and still not seeing the results. The products. The advice. The services. None of it was designed with us in mind.

So I began to ask the questions no one seemed to be answering:

  • Why does our hair seem to stop growing past a certain point?
  • Why are we still struggling despite spending so much?
  • Why is the industry booming, but our results stagnant?
  • Why aren’t we the centre of our own hair care system?

Black Hair Mastery™ Is Born

In 2020, I made a decision.

Instead of continuing the cycle of trial and error, I began reaching out to trusted professionals, educators, and women within my network who were deeply engaged in textured hair care. Together, we pieced together a plan — not just to create a resource, but to build a standard.

Black Hair Mastery™ was born as a direct response to the industry’s failure to protect, prioritise, and properly educate Black women and professionals alike.

It’s not just a curriculum. It’s a movement. A new ecosystem where our hair is understood, respected, and masterfully cared for — from the inside out.

Our Journey So Far

The Frustration Phase

Years of navigating the Black hair industry, searching for answers that never came. Doing “all the right things” and still seeing breakage, confusion, and inconsistency. Like many women, I was following advice — but it wasn’t designed for me.

The Realisation

At some point, I realised this wasn’t about one bad stylist or product. The entire system was broken — from training to marketing to product safety. And no one was fixing it for us. That’s when the shift began.

The Research & Building

I began reaching out — to experts, to Black women, to educators and stylists who shared the same frustration.
Together, we started putting the puzzle pieces together. What we needed wasn’t a new product — it was a new standard.

The Launch

Black Hair Mastery™ was born. A platform. A curriculum. A movement. Built to restore trust, raise standards, and finally put Black hair at the centre of its own education.
